A Traumatic Brain Injury, or TBI, is a brain injury that can have both short-term and long-term impacts on brain function. These injuries can have a myriad of different physical and psychological effects. Some short-term effects include migraines, vision changes, dizziness, balance disturbances, fatigue, and concentration difficulties. Meanwhile, the long-term effects can result in difficulties with cognition, communication, behavior, the senses, and experiencing emotions.

The cognitive impacts of TBI include difficulty learning, remembering, making decisions, and reasoning. Communication is often affected in TBI and can lead to trouble talking, reading, writing, and explaining feelings or thoughts. Brain injuries can have negative impacts on behavior and emotions such as difficulty with social situations, relationships, self-control, and aggression, and TBI can lead to depression, anxiety, mood swings, and irritability.

Neurofeedback is a particularly effective treatment for concussions and TBI, as a QEEG brain map can show exactly what parts of the brain have been injured. At Bhakti Brain Health Clinic we will use the QEEG data to create a personalized treatment plan for the client and address the specific area where the brain was injured. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive treatment that uses a system of rewards to steer the brain to work more efficiently and effectively. By training away dysregulation in the brain, neurofeedback helps diminish and eliminate symptoms of TBI/concussion.
